history of the town from Roman times. St John Baptist
Church titled the "Cathedral of the Cotswolds" or
walk in Cirencester Park or the Abbey grounds.
Bourton on the Water (15 miles) "The Venice of the
Cotswolds"
See the Model Village & Railway. Visit Birdland and the
Motor Museum
Fairford (10 miles) St Mary's Church with it"s unique 28 medieval stained glass windows and walks along
the beautiful River Coln.
Lechlade (15 miles) Here the River Thames has grown enough
for boating and locks with nearby facilities for Trout Fishing.
The town is a haven for antique hunters.
The North Cotswolds as far as Stratford-on-Avon has many
beautiful stone villages such as Bibury and Stow-on-the-Wold.
Don't forget a visit to Burford Wildlife Park.
The South Cotswolds stretching almost to Bath includes towns
like Tetbury and Malmesbury and villages such as Castle Coombe.
Westonbirt Arboretum and Abbey House Gardens in Malmesbury are essential
visits for the keen horticulturalist. The WWT reserve at Slimbridge is a
major attraction for bird lovers.
Further South into Wiltshire lie many National Trust
properties and gardens such as Avebury, Stonehenge, Lacock
Abbey and Dyrham Park. Other attractions include
Bowood House and the Longleat Safari Park.
